As we begin to develop a thirst and appreciation for the infinite variety of color, texture and form, splashed about in such rich abundance upon the face of this planet, we will also discover an ability to find hidden patterns of meaning and connection between seemingly unrelated subjects and occurrences - the clouds in the sky softly conversing with the needles underneath our feet, the branches of a leaning tree reaching for and gently stroking the hair of a person walking along the country road, the mist covering the faraway mountain giving birth to the morning sun. With this ability comes a subtle vision that recognizes that magic is always present in our life, even though it is well covered by the world of appearances - that tree holds the promise of eternal youth, that brook keeps stumbling on the same words of a love poem to the rock, that flower is waiting for you to notice her.

We become aware that this creative process synchronizes the pulsation of our heart and the movement of our breath with the rhythm of ripples on the water and the throbbing vitality of marks that our hand effortlessly inscribes upon the surface of the canvas. Finally, we no longer feel any distance between ourselves and that seagull underneath the bridge, any separation between who we are and what this world appears to be - an abiding sense of unity becomes a steady platform for our art and also our life.

My heartfelt wish is that students recognize and experience the unique energy that is               moving through them and are able to give it an unfettered flow into manifestation through painting and drawing. I see myself in a coaching role facilitating student's discovery of their creative self. Over time my goal is to assist them in developing a self-referential transformative process through their artistic practice.
